Green Smoothies (Boost & Energise)

Nothing beats and injection of vibrant greens and fresh fruit to pick you up or get your day off to a cracking start. Perfect for Summer mornings or anytime your energy starts to wane. The 2.10 Green Smoothie will pick you up, shake you off and chill you out. Its an all in one silver bullet for health and deliciousness.

The Ingredients of the Green Smoothie can really be anything you want  I recommend starting with an 80/20 split of fruit to greens -and if you want to make it into a meal add ground linseed or almonds to give you some protein.  I have added green barley powder in my recipe – it’s a great way to boost your leafy green intake and it’s not too overpowering.  You can also use Spirulina or Chlorophyll powder or if you don’t have it don’t worry.  I send the kids to school with one of these in their little thermos (less the nuts and seeds) to keep them going.  We are coming into fejoa season now so feel free to substitute pretty much everything with fejoas while they are around!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Banana
  • 2 Mango cheeks or 1/2 a honeydew melon
  • 1/4 Pineapple
  • 1/2  Cucumber (peeled)
  • 1 big handful of baby spinach
  • 1-2 Tbs ground linseed, nuts, seeds or chia seeds soaked in water
  • 2 tsp Green Barley Powder
  • 400ml  coconut water

Grind up your Linseed and/or nuts in a spice grinder (you can buy LSA from the supermarket already ground).  Put all ingredients into the blender – blitz until smooth. The Green Smoothies are always popular on location and easy to cater 50- 5000 with a doof doof mobile kitchen.
