Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as it is a long time since the body was last refuelled. A proper breakfast provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast – that’s how the name originated – breaking the fast. Without breakfast you are effectively running on empty, like trying to start the car with no petrol or a flattened battery. Thats why Doof Doof pay special attention to Breakfast and making sure your crew or team start the day well fed and happy. Delicious food- happy tums.
Mark and the team make breakfast something to look forward to, and we know some of you aren’t morning risers. You know who you are and you know you need a little bit of extra delicious fuel and of course caffeine. Film crews need great coffee. Thats why Doof doof have a coffee cart that you can get delivered to location. Your own cafe where-ever you are. In fact we have a mobile kitchen designed for what ever your production size or location and we will be there for breakfast.
A nutritious and sustaining breakfast will supply the energy you need to get your day off to the right start. Breakfast also restores glucose levels, an essential carbohydrate that is needed for the brain to function. Many studies have shown that eating breakfast can improve memory and concentration levels and it can also make us happier as it can improve mood and lower stress levels. Just like any other organ in the body, the brain needs energy to work at its best. Film crews and sports teams need a high level of concentration and a good mood is good for everyone.
Apart from providing you with energy, breakfast foods are good sources of important nutrients such as calcium, iron and B vitamins as well as protein and fibre. The body needs these essential nutrients and research shows that if these are missed at breakfast, they are less likely to be compensated for later in the day. Fruit and vegetables are good sources of vitamins and minerals so try to include a portion at breakfast, be it a banana or glass of fruit juice. Check out more about Nutrition on location here.
Breakfast can be good for the waistline too. Research shows those who eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight and more likely to be within their ideal weight range compared with breakfast skippers. If you skip breakfast, you’re more likely to reach for high sugar and fatty snacks mid-morning.
Carbohydrate foods that are good breakfast choices include bread, crumpets, cereal, fruit, milk and yogurt. Wholegrain breads and cereals are the best option for breakfast, as they contain carbohydrates, essential nutrients and dietary fibre, which is important for inner balance. Many breakfast cereals are also fortified with vitamins and minerals to help boost daily nutrition. Find out more in our Nutritional Glossary
